Artwork Summary

"Nadia's Crime" is a short story about modern morality and fashion that combines Telidon graphics and live action footage. In this surreal fiction, the narrative’s main character, Nadia, steals from under the nose of pantsuit-wearing strangers at Saks Fifth Avenue New York. After flying to Toronto, she gets lost in fantasies of temptation, and her attention shifts to the sexual desires of men. With figures striking poses, shoulder pads, and red lipstick, 1980's fashion is epitomized in Nadia's displays of power and desire.

For this artwork, 30 Telidon pages are combined into one and take about two minutes to display. It was created to be seen on videotape and has a rich audio element. This work was exhibited at Digicon '83: An International Conference on the Digital Arts, hosted by the University of British Columbia.
